Overview:
Through a series of questions Alma seeks to prompt repentance in the Saints of Zarahemla. Designed to prick their conscience, these questions lead many people to repent, but some remain prideful. Alma and the people establish the order of the Church. The members of the Church, touched by charitable concern, pray for those who do not know God. Alma goes to preach to the people in the valley of Gideon, teaching of Christ and encouraging the people to follow Him.
Our lesson this week covers Alma 5-7. Here is the handout: Book of Mormon Lesson 22.
[Update: 26 June 2008-5:15pm] Here is a chart providing an overview of the general issues Alma discusses in Alma 5. His 50 searching questions are useful to all people who wish to assess their own personal conversion and standing before God.
A study of this lesson will help us understand what it means to experience a change of heart and continue in the process of conversion.
