Significance of the Passover for Latter-day Saints

This Sunday, 20 April, is Passover. The Jewish Passover feast holiday has great significance for us as Latter-day Saints. The Passover and other Jewish holidays provide types and shadows of the Saviors future life, ministry, death, resurrection, redemptive powers, and Second Coming. Also seen in these events is the pattern of the Lord’s Plan of Happiness for his children, from beginning to end.

The Lord commanded the Israelites to keep these holy feasts forever. Members of the Church of Latter-day Saints are Israelites, either by birth or adoption. Although the Law of Moses has been fulfilled, there is still a message for us in the Passover feast.

Attached is a document that illustrates some of the significance of the Passover for members of the Church. I have also included a Passover Family Home Evening. Hopefully you might find this interesting and useful.

Hebrew Blessings for Passover

Praised art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, Creator of the fruit of the vine.

Praised art Thou, O Lord our God, Ruler of the Universe, who hast given us life, kept us safely, and brought us to this holy season.

Praised art Thou, O Lord our God, Ruler of the Universe, Creator of the fruit of the earth.
