Lesson #12 -“Seek Ye for the Kingdom of God”, Jacob 1-4
“The Kingdom of God is all that is real worth.
All else is not worth possessing, either here or hereafter.”

In these chapters Jacob magnifies his calling from the Lord to preach repentance to the people. He warns against the love of riches, pride and unchastity. Jacob testifies of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He warns the people of looking beyond the mark.
We are living in a time of economic uncertainty and crisis. It is worthwhile for us to focus on how we can live our economic lives in harmony with gospel teachings.
Consider this question as you prepare for this lesson:
- What are the elements of economic practice that are most in keeping with scriptural teachings?
Elder L. Tom Perry gave a powerful conference talk in May 1987 using Jacob’s teachings about the dissension that results when the hearts of the people turn to selfish wants and desires, to the pleasures of the flesh, to riches and worldly possessions.
